Welcome to the Cardiovascular Anesthesia Section of Anesthesia Consultants of Indianapolis. Our section consists of eleven board certified anesthesiologists committed to the highest level of perioperative care for patients undergoing advanced cardiovascular and thoracic transplant procedures. Our section members work throughout all of ACIs locations but, most of our cardiovascular service is centered within IU Methodist Hospital in downtown Indianapolis.
Our physicians are committed to the highest level of clinical care. This is demonstrated by the fact that all of our section members hold, or are in the process of obtaining, board certification from the National Board of Echocardiography in Advanced Perioperative Transesophageal Echocardiography. This expertise in ultrasound allows our physicians to help assess the severity of cardiovascular disease and to help guide intraoperative surgical and medical therapy. Our team provides perioperative and anesthetic management for approximately 1200 cardiovascular procedures and transplants annually. We are experienced with the anesthetic management of the most complicated cardiopulmonary bypass procedures, as well as advanced heart failure therapies, and cutting edge percutaneous valve replacement and repair techniques. Additionally, we provide consultation and care for patients with severe cardiopulmonary disease undergoing non-cardiac surgery. Our section’s physicians provide around the clock coverage at IU Methodist Hospital to ensure the highest level of perioperative cardiovascular care, no matter when it is needed.
ACI’s Cardiovascular Anesthesia Section is also committed to the training of the next generation of anesthesiologists. In partnership with the IU School of Medicine, we help train anesthesia residents during clinical rotations in cardiovascular anesthesia. Our physicians provide individual training to residents and are present at the patient’s side throughout all surgical procedures.
